Stockholm, Sweden

Stockholm is one of the world's most beautiful capitals. According to chronicles, Stockholm was founded by Birger Jarl in 1252. It was named Stockholm, as referring to the town in between the bridges. Built on 14 islands around one of Europe's largest medieval city centres, the Swedish capital has an extremely varied scenery in every direction.

Did you know?

1) Sweden is often called "The land of the midnight sun" or "The land of the Vikings"
2) The Swedish word for father is far and mother mor. It does make far more sense to introduce them together ;)
3) In Sweden when a person says "no" they smile and nod their head up and down
4) For every one Ikea (famous furniture store) in Sweden there are 39 McDonalds
5) With 42.7% of female parliamentarians (in 2002), Sweden has the highest proportion of women lawmakers in the world.
